This is the first of 3 romanze on text by Guido de’ Cavalcanti, the famous Italian poet of the 13th century. In this sonnet, Cavalcanti expresses the pain caused by love in the presence of his other half. A concept that will have a great influence and will be developed further by his great friend Dante Alighieri.
